First Annual Bakersfield TailLights Car Show – SUCCESS!

Big Red’s Buddies, our flagship program, had its first annual Bakersfield TailLights Car Show yesterday at the Temblor Brewing Company parking lot.  It was a success!

It was a success in spite of unpredictable weather, pouring rain, winds and people who, understandably didn’t make it to the show.

It was a success even though our organization is only a year and half old and this was the first time many of our patrons, donors, and volunteers had learned of our existence.

AND, it was a success mainly due to the amazing dedication and drive of the team that put it together in under 2 months (you read that right – this got pulled together in less than 8 weeks).  Alex Garza, Event Director and Nathan Goodman, Event Coordinator, along with Christina Hagoort-Dooley and Linda Toelle (both of Whole Earth Pets Foundation, Inc.) wore many hats, drove many miles, spoke to many people – and with their focus and team work, created the first of many fundraising TailLights Car Shows to come.

They laid the foundation for the events of the future, helped to establish who we are and what we do in a far reaching way, and they are in my heart – HEROES.  And that is the best way to spell SUCCESS.

We also had amazing support from the Foothills Arts In Motion Booster Club, the Bakersfield Police K-9 Units and the Kern Canine Activities Meetup Group; and of course, the regular volunteers for Big Red’s Buddies and Rody’s Pals.

With great respect and appreciation, here is the list of the many people and businesses that came together to help us help keep pets with their families:
